Oh deary me...
Three Medford school teachers were threatened with arrest and escorted from the event after they showed up wearing T-shirts with the slogan "Protect our civil liberties." All three said they applied for and received valid tickets from Republican headquarters in Medford.
The women said they did not intend to protest. "I wanted to see if I would be able to make a statement that I feel is important, but not offensive, in a rally for my president," said Janet Voorhies, 48, a teacher in training.
“We chose this phrase specifically because we didn't think it would be offensive or degrading or obscene," said Tania Tong, 34, a special education teacher.
Thursday’s event in Oregon sets a new bar for a Bush/Cheney campaign that has taken extraordinary measures to screen the opinions of those who attend Bush and Cheney speeches. For months, the Bush/Cheney campaign has limited event access to those willing to volunteer in Bush/Cheney campaign offices. In recent weeks, the Bush/Cheney campaign has gone so far as to have those who voice dissenting viewpoints at their events arrested and charged as criminals.
Thursday’s actions in Oregon set a new standard even for Bush/Cheney – removing and threatening with arrest citizens who in no way disrupt an event and wear clothing that expresses non-disruptive party-neutral viewpoints such as “Protect Our Civil Liberties.”
When Vice President Dick Cheney visited Eugene, Oregon on Sept. 17, a 54-Year old woman named Perry Patterson was charged with criminal trespass for blurting the word "No" when Cheney said that George W. Bush has made the world safer.
One day before, Sue Niederer, 55, the mother of a slain American soldier in Iraq was cuffed and arrested for criminal trespass when she interrupted a Laura Bush speech in New Jersey. Both women had tickets to the event.

Earlier than most, I'm beginning to suffer from homesickness. I thought it wouldn't start until next week.
Oh well.
I miss you guys.
Sorry for the lack of posting, I have been too busy preparing for University - but I'm here now, so I have no excuse not to post.
As doctorvee posted, it's just hit me that I won't be seeing my friends too often. I had an emotional, but very drunken goodbye to them on Saturday at the Sands Hotel in Burntisland. Lots and lots of alcohol was involved, mainly drunk by me. It was a good turnout. I'm very glad so many people came, it made me feel that I will actually be missed. Very, very good fun. Lots of laughing usually at my expense - especially when an old man asked me to look after me, to which I obliged. That was very funny, but to show respect to the man, I tried extremely hard to keep a straight face. I succeeded I presume, as he even wanted my details so that I could work for him! But alas, I was going away to Glasgow the next day.
And now, I'm here.
Today was frantic - but only once we arrived. Hundreds and hundreds of cars were here and there was no where near enough parking. So lots of cars in very tight streets meant lots of congestion.
However, I did manage to unpack all the stuff, and now my room is sort of set up how I like it. The desk that I'm sitting at is slightly too small, so it won't be able to be used for study as it has both my TV and PC. There is not much room for anything else. Talking of TV's, one thing I'm annoyed about is the fact that I cannot get any reception at all. Which means, no TV. Unless I purchase a Freeview box. Very tempting. The plus side, however, is that I get free 24hr internet access in my room. Which is what I'm posting through now. Very cool, and very fast! Even slightly faster than my broadband connection at home.
Tonight was weird. Lots of getting to know new people, lots of partying, lots of alcohol. The latter, due to a hangover, I didn't take part in too much. I was invited to 3 parties, 2 of which I attended. And this is from people I don't know. Very friendly! It's nice people are so friendly, makes you at ease. At the time of posting, the partying in my flat has just finished. I didn't feel part of it too much, mainly because I was sober. If I had been drinking, maybe I could have enjoyed it a bit more - but there's lots of time for that. Freshers' week hasn't started yet!
On tomorrow's agenda, meeting people from NewStudent and probably some drinking. And I don't care about staying sober now. This is the only freshers' week I'll ever have, and I'm going to enjoy it so much.
That's my plan, anyway.
Take care.
Read this link about 9/11. It's very, very suspicious.

Sorry for the lack of posting recently.
I would just like to say that this website FOOKIN' RAWKS. I have added several people to my MSN Messenger list from the site, and I have made with people who are going to Glasgow like I am!
Plans have already been set to meet them, so I'm really looking forward to going now.
I have made friends before I've got there! Yay!
